John Rose Obituary

February 2, 1955 - August 24, 2014
Maj. John Henry Rose, USAF (Ret.) passed away on August 24, 2014 in San Antonio. Born to Harry and Jane Rose in Bakersfield, California. John grew up in California and attended college in San Francisco where he met his wife and fell in love. John joined the United States Air Force and served his 23 year career as an Electronic Warfare Officer on B-52's, with duty stops in Michigan, Arizona, and Texas. John's passions were sailing, woodworking, and antique cars, and he cherished deeply his 1965 Pontiac Bonneville station wagon that he gave his only son, James, as his first car. He was a proud father of four children, all of whom grew up in San Antonio and attended the University of Texas at Austin. John loved his family and often spoke fondly of his favorite family vacation, their once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy 6 years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Christine Rose. John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Katherine O'Donnell Rose; children, James Rose and wife Sarah, Mary Rose Ramirez and husband Joshua; Abigail Ann Rose, and Hannah Elizabeth Rose; grandchildren, Patrick James Rose and Brian Howard Rose; sister, Liane Leavitt husband Lance and their daughter, Chloe and aunt, Rita McDermott.
