John Yurgalavich Obituary

John T. Yurgalavich of Scranton, a resident of the Mountain View Care Center, died Saturday. His wife is the former Helen Condrat. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 30.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Thomas and Helen Yedzavich Yurgalavich, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1946. He proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean War and before his retirement, he was employed by the Chamberlain Corp.

John was a loving and devoted husband and an avid bingo player. He enjoyed his cats and was a Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles football fan. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans William Malia Post, Chapter 1, Holy Rosary Church and a former long-time active member of St. Stanislaus Church, North Scranton.

Also surviving are nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, George, Tony and Tom; and six sisters, Eva, Helen, Ann, Martha, Mary and Lena.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton. Those attending the funeral Mass are asked to go directly to the church. Interment with military honors will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Scranton.

Helen, I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. Through your radio spots for Mountain View, I felt like I knew both of you. I can still hear your voices with him telling you you were his beautiful girl. God bless you both and I'm sure the Lord will take good care of him.

I remember John well.He was involved in school activieties.I'm 83 and sure John was around the same age.Anyway,it was a pleasure knowing John & wife.
