Jose Hernandez Obituary

Jose Luis Hernandez, 68, beloved family member and friend, passed away on December 14, 2022. The middle child of nine siblings, he was born in San Antonio on March 3, 1954, to Delfina and Cleofas Hernandez. He attended Lanier High School and joined the United States Air Force after graduation. After traveling throughout the country, he continued to work with airplanes at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio. A devoted father, he raised two daughters, Mari and Natasha Hernandez. Jose was known for his remarkable sense of humor and extensive knowledge of history and the arts. He shared his love of San Antonio history as a downtown tour guide. He was dedicated to the San Antonio Spurs and appreciated music and film across genres. Beloved by young and old alike, he will be missed for his friendly and easygoing manner. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Albert Hernandez and Gilbert Hernandez. He is survived by his daughters; sisters Linda Esparza, Mary Torres, Mary Esther Hernandez and Maria Treviño; brothers Mario Hernandez and Jimmy Hernandez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the Alamo Funeral Chapels. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
