Jose Silva Obituary
Jose Arranda Silva was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 10, 1940 to Lorenzo Silva and Sibastiana Arranda. He entered into rest on November 15, 2013 at the age of 73. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-mother Beatrice Reyes Silva. Jose is survived by his loving wife of 43-years Marie Velez Silva, son Jose Daniel Silva, daughter Laura Nieto (Ruben), and grand-daughter Anna Sobeida. Brothers and sisters: Dorothy Olivares, Mary Louise Marin, Lorenzo Silva Jr., Rosalinda Jones, Anthony Silva, Paulina Bustamante, and Roy Ray Silva.
Jose Silva had a deep love for family, travel, and life and opened his home to many, creating wonderful memories. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Sobie and loved spending time with her and taking her on lots of adventures. He was a proud member of the 1st Bn 7th Cav 1st Cav Div and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Jose retired from Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research after 40 years.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m to 9 pm on November 20, 2013 at Castle Ridge Mortuary with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A mass will be held Thursday, November 21, at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Joe will forever hold a place in our hearts. Clarissa will always remember the impromptu talks she shared with Joe on her way home from school. I will never forget the Marine Corps birthday I shared with him, Joey and my brother in 2012. I'll miss seeing him on his daily walk but I take comfort in knowing he is in a better place. You all may have lost a husband, father, and grandfather, but gained a guardian angel. May he rest in peace.
