Jose Villarreal Jr.
February 25, 2023
On February 25, 2023, our father Jose Villarreal Jr. was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 89 surrounded by his family and loved ones, after a courageous three-year battle against cancer. Joe never gave up and fought to the very end.

Joe lived a long and blessed life joining the United States Air Force after graduating from Fox Tech High School. Joe retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service and then became a member of the Fort Sam Houston Fire Department, where he would ultimately attain the rank of Fire Captain and retire after 20 years of service.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Guadalupe, his children Edward Sr. (Suzie), David (Mary) and Christina (Thaddeus); grandchildren Edward Jr., John Michael (Ann) Jenison, Exsela, Emily Rose, Koreena, Denise, Stephanie, Nora and Victor; 6 great grandsons; sisters: Irma, Rose Mary, Maria Theresa, Yolonda, Marlene; and brothers, Alex and Robert.

Services: Tuesday, March 7th at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Rosary at 12:15pm followed by Mass at 1:00pm. Interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.

While I did not know Mr. Jose Villarreal Jr., I know his son David as we work together at NEISD PD. David, I know that death is very cruel and it's sting hurts deeply. However, knowing your Dad was a servant of Jesus Christ and chose a life of service it is not surprising that he waged a valiant fight against cancer until the end. Having said that, you and your family can take comfort in the fact he now suffers no pain, no sorrow, no regrets. I am supposing he is looking down from the balcony of Heaven with deep loving care, knowing he was surrounded in love and now is in the caring arms of His Savior, Jesus Christ. I am certain he invested heavily in his family and sometimes as parents we don't always get it right but back in the day there were no how to books on parenting (lol) like one might see today. Most of us learned "how to" based on how we were parented. It wasn't for the lack of trying. I am also certain that he appreciated all that you and the family did to make him comfortable and just your presence was felt by him even if no words were exchanged.

The bible offers a lot of descriptions on heaven. So can you imagine in your minds eye a group of angels gathered around your Dad as he took his last breath and at that moment escorted his soul arm and arm upward to the heavenly' s where Jesus Christ is waiting on his arrival to greet him with, Well done thy faithful servant. And he enters into the heavenly kingdom.

David may your family rest assured your Dad is in good hands now, fully enjoying the benefits of being one of Gods Kids.

Blessing to you and your family as you travel the tough road ahead.
