Joseph Becker Obituary
Our dearly loved son, Joseph "Joe" Raymond Becker, 18 yrs old, of San Antonio, TX, left this earth too early, too soon on Wednesday morning, June 16, 2010. Joe, dearest son of Michael and Josie Becker, and beloved brother of Alex Becker, was a recent graduate of Brandeis High School and had been accepted to the schools of Texas Tech and Texas State, but chose to enroll at UTSA in order to remain close to his family and friends. Joe's passion for life and enthusiasm for helping his friends and making them smile with his signature laugh individually touched all who knew him as evidenced by the late Wednesday evening gathering of an overwhelming number of his friends who held an impromptu candlelight vigil at the site of the accident in honor of his memory. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, with a love for hunting, fishing, mudding with his truck and target shooting. He enjoyed working on his truck in auto tech and playing pranks on his auto tech teacher Mr. Brownlee and loved the outdoor field tips his environmental science class had with his teacher Mrs. McCraken. Joseph had a real fondness for those two teachers, both of who had made a very positive impact on his life and education. More than anything, Joe enjoyed the company of his family and friends- whether it was listening to music, playing water volleyball, grilling food for friends, or brightening their day with helpful advice, Joe was always ready to lend a helpful ear or willing hand. His selfless acts of kindness will forever live in the hearts and minds of those who love him. Joe had significant accomplishments for a young man: he was a second degree black belt in Tae Kwan Do, a fencer trained in foil and epee, and accomplished tap dancer, a proficient marksman and target shooter, and had traveled throughout the United States and into Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Joe is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Josie Becker, sister Alex, grandparents, Richard and Josie Trevino, Aunt Mary Kinsey, Aunt Sylvia Trevino-Barton, Uncle Dan Barton, uncle Richard Trevino, Aunt Melanie T. Trevino, cousins Elizabeth Kinsey, Daniel Barton, Nathan Barton, Richie Trevino, Terence Trevino, Lucas Trevino, Julianna Trevino, and Mackenzie Becker.
Services
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life from 3:00 - 6:00 PM Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Bass Pro Shops 2nd floor Conference Room, 17907 IH-10 West, San Antonio, TX 78257. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. www.tpwf.org

Dr. Becker, Josie and Alex, I was saddened to hear of your loss and wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy to you all. Although we have not seen Joseph and Alex since they did their childrens courses in Austin, I remember them as very bright, happy and polite people, precocious for their ages. I hope you find comfort in each other and the happy times you shared. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you at the church here in Austin.

We are so sorry for your loss. Joe was an awesome person who touched so many people, including my children, Phillip and Nina.
I saw this and know that this is where Joe is:
To my dearest family and friends, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family and friends, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile (truly Joe)
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

May the Love of Christ Jesus, family and friends give you comfort and strength during this most difficult of times. It is not right that a parent should have to bury their children, but God must have needed another angel in heaven and so he took Joe.
Wenever the sun shines, let it warm your face for a few minutes and think of it, that Joe is shining down his forever love on you in your heart and soul.
We did not know Joe personally, but only have dealt with you, Dr. Becker through our dogs. Our prayers and deepest sympathy go out to you and your family at this time.
