Juan Rodarte Obituary
Juan F. Rodarte, USAF (Retired), beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed from this life on May 21, 2004 at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 27, 1935 in San Antonio, TX to Pablo and Julia Rodarte. He grew up and attended school here in San Antonio, then joined the Air Force and was stationed at bases in Texas, California, Germany and Viet Nam. After 21 years of service he retired in San Antonio and began working for Civil Service at Randolph Air Force Base until he retired again in 1996. A quiet man who worked hard to provide for his family, he was always willing to help anyone in need. Anytime something broke we all called Pop to fix it. He was a good man with a big generous heart and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We all touch each other lives like a pebble tossed in the water causes ripples, but Pop made a wave that will always be felt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Manuel Rodarte. Juan is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Clementina Rodarte; sons, Juan and wife, Debbie and Jerry Rodarte of San Antonio, Eddie and wife Cheryl of Austin; daughter, Belinda Hernandez and husband Steve of San Antonio; grandchildren, John C. Rodarte, Alan, Tiffany, David and Amanda Rodarte, Ashley, DeAnna and Gabbie Hernandez, Christopher and Matthew Bueno; sisters, Juliana Silva and Maria Rodarte; brothers, Pablo Jr., Frank, Miguel, Lorenzo, Marcos and Peter Rodarte; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to Dr. Abe Rodriguez and to all of the doctors and nurses at Northeast Baptist Hospital who treated Pop, for all the care and kindness they have given and to Dr. Sharon T. Wilks and her staff for giving hope when it was desperately needed. We would also like to thank all of the friends and family who visited and helped during our time of need. Your love and kindness is deeply appreciated. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Schertz Funeral Home. A Mass will be Celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma with Father Conor McGrath as the celebrant. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Cancer Treatment and Research Center, P.O. Box 1657, San Antonio, TX 78296-1657. Arrangements are with Schertz Funeral Home.
