Katherine Langston King

Beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Katherine Langston King died peacefully at her home in San Antonio on March 16, 2016, at the age of 88. Born in Foard County, TX, she was 1 of 9 children born to O'Lera (Neely) and Charlie Langston. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Van A. King. She is survived by her children Gaylon, Doug (Carol), Carolyn and JoAnn; grandchildren Jennifer, Katherine, Victoria, Phillip, Stacy, Sarah, James and Justin; great-grandchildren Zoe, Lena, Charles, Niles, Lily, Minerva, Cambria and Jameson. She is also survived by siblings: Curtis Langston and Della Patchett of Seymour, TX, and Viola George of Spearman, TX. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a constant source of encouragement to her family and always quick to find humor in almost every situation. Growing up during the Great Depression, she learned the value of hard work and sacrifice. From the late 1970s to the mid-1980s, she was a waitress and restaurant manager at Texan Seafood, a south-side favorite in San Antonio.
A private graveside service with family members was held at Mission Park South.
