Kenneth Ray Rummel, 81, of Hondo, Texas passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017. Kenneth was born in San Antonio Dec. 17, 1935, the son of Ralph and Bessie Rummel.
After attending Hebronville High School, he joined the Army. On July 2, 1960, Kenneth married the love of his life, Carolyn Dramberger in San Antonio. They lived in several locations before settling in Hondo, in 1971. Kenneth is remembered not only as Daddy, Pop, Grandpa, but as a friend to all. He was a Union Iron Worker and his work became the skyline of San Antonio and many other cities. His passion was family and friend gatherings where he always was the life of the party. He is survived by his daughter Mary Jo (Doug) Peters of Hondo; son Mike Rummel of Hondo; son Jeff (Lorina) Rummel; daughters Judy (James)Seals; Karen (Adam) Blanchette and Sally (Jody) Kirk; daughter-in-law Bobbie Anna Rummel, all of San Antonio; 21 grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris Claflin and Carol(Tom) Schitchl, all of Conway, AR; sister-in-law Mary (Jack) Van Horn of Hondo; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by wife Carolyn Rummel, son John Rummel, parents Ralph and Bessie Rummel, brother Ralph Rummel and brother-in-law Fred Claflin.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 29, 5:30-7:30 with Rosary at 6:30 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Hondo. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11 a.m. also at St. John's. Burial will be at San Fernando #2 cemetery at 3 p.m. Arrangements are by Guinn-Horger Funeral Home, Hondo.
