Laurence Fitzsimon Obituary
Laurence (Larry) Fitzsimon passed away June 29, 2014. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Steve. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; sons Danny and Les; and daughters Carol Spradling, Nancy Lockhart and Ruth Fitzsimon of San Antonio as well as Jan and husband Bruce Barr of Cedar Creek, Texas, and Martha FitzSimon and husband, Bernie Trombley of Fairfax, Virginia. He also is survived by his sister, Marcella Prescott of Louisville, Kentucky, and five grandchildren: Lisa Spradling, Megan, Willem and Liam Lockhart of San Antonio; and Stephanie Fitzsimon of Monticello, Kentucky. Larry was a charter member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and was also a member of both St. Anthony de Padua and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Churches. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst. The interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory at hawkridge.org or to the charity of your choice. I will always remember my Uncle Larry for his warm smile and, as my sister said, his gracious and kind ways of speaking and relating to everyone. I am grateful to him and to Aunt Dorothy for the help they gave my mother Dolores in her last years, for their support after she passed away, and for their warm hospitality at many Thanksgivings and Christmases. I pray that Aunt Dorothy and all my cousins will fine solace in the love I know they will receive from so many friends and family.

Uncle Larry was a true Texas gentleman. When I think of him, the word gentle is at the top of my list. He was kind, loving, always keenly interested in so many things and a great listener as well as being a very patient man.
