The promises of the Lord have been fulfilled, as Linda Luedemann Kiolbassa died peacefully Feb 7th 2022, and has been reunited with the love of her life, Robert "Bobby" Kiolbassa. They met in high school and married in 1958. Their marriage lasted for 64 years, until his passing in July 2021, but their love and devotion to each other never faded. Their love for each other was an amazing inspiration to all who knew them and together they raised four children, Katherine Kiolbassa Spalding, Michael Kiolbassa, Julie Kiolbassa Yancy and Amy Kiolbassa Meyers.
Linda was born to Lois and Waldo Luedemann on June 12, 1938 in San Antonio. She attended Incarnate Word High School and the University of Texas, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. They lived in San Antonio throughout their lives, where they focused on their faith, their family, and their family business.
Linda had an amazing faith that sustained her throughout her years, but especially in the months since Bobby's passing. She and Bobby were members of St. Peter Prince of the Apostle Church, and most recently she joined the St. Anthony de Padua parish. She and Bobby were devout members of the Brigidine Sisters prayer group. She was a firm believer in spending time each morning in quiet prayer. Linda and Bobby were honored with the Christifideles Laici Award for their outstanding lay ministry throughout the archdiocese. Throughout their lives, Linda and Bobby were members of and supported the Archdiocese of San Antonio, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Brigidine Sisters, the Conger Institute, St. Monica's Guild and the Catholic Daughters. Linda and Bobby were founding members of the Sacred Heart family guild, which formed treasured friendships for over 50 years.
Linda was always an integral part of the Kiolbassa Smoked Meats Company family. While she worked in the office for only a few years, more importantly, she supported Bobby at home with her love and encouragement every day of the week. She loved many of the dedicated team members whom she had known over the years, and would periodically show up at the plant and group events to celebrate their accomplishments. She was so proud of her husband, the hardships that he had overcome to keep the company going, and the growth of the business over their lifetime.
Linda and Bobby loved to travel throughout the world and enjoyed many trips with friends and family. But more than anything they loved to host family and friends at their home. Everyone was always welcome and good food and drinks were never in short supply. Linda was the consummate hostess and never turned down the opportunity to host all kinds of events, from dance lesson parties, Valentine's Day dinners, New Year's Eve parties, and large family gatherings. She loved playing card games of all kinds, and passed on her love of games to her grandchildren (and she didn't always let them win). She also really loved her periodic trips to Las Vegas and was affectionately known as Las Vegas Grammy.
Linda was a member of many social groups, including the Battle of Flowers Association, Timely Topics, the Forum Club, The Argyle and numerous more casual groups that were so important to her, including her Lunch Bunch and Bridge group. Linda had such a generous heart, always supporting numerous charities, big and small, never wanting anyone to feel alone or hopeless. She was an inspiration to all of her grandchildren and encouraged them to be generous in in life.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kiolbassa and her parents, Lois and Waldo Luedemann, and sister, Anne Emerson. She is survived by her four children, Kathy and Clem Spalding, Michael and Nita Kiolbassa, Julie and John Yancy, Amy and William Meyers, as well as their grandchildren: Andres Wiesse and Andi Ramos, Daniel Wiesse, Ali Wiesse and Michael Kaiser, Kimberly Martin, Rusty Kiolbassa, Claudia Kiolbassa Hendry and husband Luke, Robert Yancy and his wife Samantha, Sarah Yancy Coleman and husband Jacob, Hannah Yancy Sorley and husband Will, Madeline Meyers, William (Tres) Meyers, and Luke Meyers, and her great grandchildren: Aubrey Rutledge, Dylan Sorley, Jaxon Babin, and Lincoln Babin. She is also survived by her siblings, Waldo S. Luedemann, Jr and his wife Betty, Mary Ellen Cox, Jane Luedemann Strickland, William Luedemann and his wife Judy, and Elizabeth Luedemann Fitzgerald and her husband Ray, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She leaves behind two special ladies, Margaret Anderson and Aurora Arriola.
The family would like to give special thanks to the care given to Mom by Dr. Jennifer Wallace, Dr. Thor Tejeda, Karel Hoffman, and her caregivers: Kwaiwetta Wimes-LeDoux, Chenita Lovings, Kieara Jones, Gabie Euresti, Rosa Torres, Jeannie James and Brandon LeDoux.
