Coach MCCarty had a great influence on my attitude both on the court and off. She always stood up for her team and I admired her. I have told many people over the years what an influence my coach had on me. It was a privelege to represent Mac with her by our side.

Coach McCarty, I've thought of you so often over the years since my days at Mac. Unfortunately, my first year there was your last before moving to Churchill. That was the first year Mac had a freshman volleyball team. I was so happy to be on that team and to have you there giving me tons of encouragement and praise. I will forever remember your kindness. Even later when Mac would play Churchill, you always came to say hello, and offer a big hug. I will treasure a pic I have of the two of us back them. May your family and friends find comfort at this time.

Coach McCarty is one person I will never, ever forget. She taught so many of us such valuable lessons - honesty, kindness, determination, and HUMOR! Playing volleyball at WCHS created some of the best memories I have, and not one of us ever had a bad thing to say about her. And just like she did on the court, she will bring us all together again on Aug 25th - so many different classes but all with the same desire - to remember and honor such a great lady. She will be so greatly missed, but I can guarantee there's one helluva party going on in Heaven these days. We'll always love you, Coach McC!! :)

Coach McCarty and Coach Bingham have given me a gift that has lasted a lifetime. They made a difference for so many, which has been noted in these entries. As students, what more could we ask for from our teachers. Coach, may you rest in peace. Thank you.

"Miss McCarty" will always stand out as one of my favorite teachers. I will never forget all the fun, laughter and love she gave us in P.E. It was always a time you could look forward to during the day. She will be missed.......

I'm grateful to have had Coach McCarty as my teacher and later as a colleague. She had a great sense of humor and was an important listening ear to me as a beginning teacher. Her dedication to teaching is still an inspiration to me. My condolences to her family and friends.

She was not officially my Coach, but while treating me for Track injuries she always took time to talk with me. She pushed in a positive manner to make you work to overcome your weaknesses.

Coach McCarty and Coach Bingham were my best teachers. When my mother worked at WC after I graduated I always loved running into Coach McCarty, she would always greet you with a hug and a smile! I always remembered her when I was coaching in a Middle School. I can only hope I left the kind of impression on my students as she left on me.

Coach McCarty was one of the most adorable ladies I ever met. She worked your butt off but then would give you the biggest hug and had no problem telling you "you did a good job". Fun loving, witty, kind, always smiling Marla. "YOU WILL BE MISSED AND THANK YOU FOR BEING THE WOMAN YOU WERE!" You taught me alot of lessons. Thank you!!! Connie Alsobrooks Stewart '78

We were friends in high school and until the day she died. There is a huge hole left in my heart that no one else can fill. We are all better off for having known her and the world was a better place when she was in it.

Coach McCarty was a positive influence in my life and I will always have fond memories of her. She was very encouraging and supportive (even to us tennis players). She never forgot us even long after we graduated. We will never forget you Marla! Rest in Peace.

What a positive role model for me! She wanted my best on the court, but she also wanted me to succeed on the broader stage of life. She came to my defense more than once when conflicts arose between basketball and band. I'm the better for having her in my life!

Marla will always hold a special place in my heart. She was the glue that kept me together back in my swimming days at Mac. Advice learned her are still in place today, always be supportive, honest and caring! We are all better people to have known her..

Ms McCarty..you and Ms Bingham what a dynamic duo! You kept us true, you taught us trust, laughter and meaning of team...You showed/taught us respect, honesty and to have fun no matter what...If we would have known you were going to shred so many towels during VB games I think we would have bought stock in them!! I still remember traveling to Highlands HS on the worlds oldest bus.Ms Bingham driving with a pillow to reach the pedals, no 2nd gear and you shifting...it was never boring...Thank you for everything..you will always be a guiding hand...

McCarty and Bingham were such a huge influence on my life. I owe my college career to them! Marla was such a great support to Bingham (I am praying for you, Wanda). I loved her sense of humor and how she pushed us. "Can't never could"! :) I will be there on the 25th to say good by and thank you, Coach!
