With a great big bear hug, lifelong Texan Michael P. Garner reunited with his son David and beloved family members on January 27, 2021. He was 77.
Mike's kind heart, sweet disposition and silly sense of humor charmed most everyone he encountered. During his childhood, Mike was spoiled rotten by his aunt and uncle in Dallas. He also enjoyed much treasured time with extended family in Eagle Pass. Mike received his BA from St. Mary's and his MSW from Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio.
An avid fan of sailboats, spirituality and self-help strategies, Mike was a big thinker who dreamed of world peace. He was also passionate about model trains and train history. (And perhaps it was his love of trains that fostered his endless amusement with toots!)
More than anything, Mike loved his family: his children Rosemary, Michael, Dominic, David, stepson Jon, and their families; his sisters, Sara and Patty; and his devoted dogs. "Bernie Sanders" is pictured here. Mike was smiling and witty 'til the very end, and he will be missed dearly by all of us-including his special caregiver Joey.
In Mike's memory, please take every opportunity to "Think Friendly."
