May 15, 1950 - August 23, 2014
Chief of Police for Elmendorf Police Department, Michael Anthony Pimentel, passed away August, 23, 2014. Michael was born on May 15, 1950. Michael graduated from Holy Cross High School in San Antonio. He attended Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice. After high school, Michael joined the United States Army and went to Vietnam where he served as a MP. Upon his return home, he became a police officer for the Austin Police Department. Michael loved the state of Texas and as such, ended up serving as a police officer for other cities, including Corpus Christi (1984-1994), Port Aransas (1983-1984), Brownsville (1995-2002), SAISD (2002-2007), Mathis (2009-2011), and ending in Elmendorf (2013-2014). He wanted to be closer to his family in San Antonio. Michael is preceded in death by his beloved father, Humberto Pimentel. He is survived by his beautiful mother, Pearl Pimentel; daughter, Malinda Pimentel Lanford and son-in-law, Shane Lanford; granddaughter, Ciera Lanford; son, Matthew Davis; step-daughter, Kristina Wood; brothers, Daniel Pimentel and wife Suzanne, Joseph Pimentel and wife Rose; sisters, Donna Sampson and husband Jim, Patricia Gonzales and husband Ernest; and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was a sweet soul with so many talents. He played guitar for New Life Church where he was a member. He looked forward to it every Sunday. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and wood working. Michael was instrumental in the development of Crime Stoppers in the State of Texas. He bred Pasafino Trotting Horses in Brownsville which led him to become a member of the Charro's Association. While he lived in Corpus he started a photography business called Flash Back Photography. Michael loved to ride his Harley along with his dog Diva. He and his best friend J.D. became members of South Padre Island Riders and members of Los Escondidos before he became a member of the Blue Knights. Michael was a man of God, always searching everywhere he lived to find a place of worship. He said of granddaughter Ciera "the only one who has my heart". She now has a Guardian Angel to watch over her. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, September 1, 2014, at Porter Loring Mortuary, with the family present from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
