Nellie Jane (Nelson) Heppel entered eternal rest on February 6, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 100. She was born on June 6, 1921, in Jamestown, New York to David E. Sr. and Ethel S. (Bratt) Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Harold Heppel; sisters, Edna Mae Nelson and Col. Ethel Alice Nelson; brothers, Frank C. Nelson and David E. Nelson, Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Sue Heppel. Nellie is survived by her sons, James H. Heppel (Denise) and Thomas E. Heppel; grandchildren, Rebecca Lee (Heppel) Anderson, Christopher J. Heppel, and Gretchen (Heppel) Doyle; great-grandson, Joshua James Anderson; other family members and friends. Nellie Jane was a receptionist for the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce for 20 years in Buffalo, NY and was lovingly referred to as the voice of Buffalo. She was involved with community and church (Cleveland Drive Presbyterian in Buffalo, NY and Epworth United Methodist in San Antonio, TX). She enjoyed roller skating and square dancing with her husband in her younger days and travel, reading and collecting shells (many, many shells) in her later years. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 beginning at 9:00 A.M. with a celebration of life service to begin at 10:00 A.M. at Epworth United Methodist Church. Mrs. Heppel will be laid to rest with her family in Buffalo, New York.
