Olga Govea Obituary

Olga T. Govea, beloved wife and mother entered rest on April 12th, 2025 at the age of 88 after a lengthy illness. Born in Eagle Pass, Texas on March 23rd 1937 she was the youngest of seven children and was a 1955 graduate of San Antonio Tech High School.
She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in the late 1960's and early 1970's and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church from 1974 to 1997 where she volunteered to assist with many parish activities and functions. She also employed by the Archdioceses of San Antonio as an administrative assistant for several years during this period.
In 1997, she became a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church where she remained active, serving as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Young at Heart club, helping to coordinate senior activities and events, up until her illness no longer allowed her to do so.
A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother to her husband, 4 daughters and 10 grandchildren who she dearly loved and brought her much joy and happiness, she also enjoyed sewing, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents Octaviano and Emilia, her siblings Eduardo, Octaviano Jr., Isabel, Mauro, Reynaldo & Elia, her devoted and loving in-laws Miguel and Rosa Govea as well as her son-in-law Albert Noble.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Jesse Govea, her daughters Rose Ramos, Gracie Chapa (Mario), Diana Noble & Linda Shaffer (Kenneth). She also leaves behind 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the Seasons Assisted living facility staff who have cared for her over the last 2 years as her illness progressed and to the dedicated individual care providers who cared for her previously. In addition, the family would like to thank the staff of VITAS hospice for their dedicated care and support as she embarked on her final journey home into the hands of the Lord.
Holy Rosary to be recited on Tues., April 22nd at 7pm, with visitation to begin at 5:30pm, Angelus Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday April 23rd, 11am at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church with reception immediately following in the parish hall.
Graveside services and interment at 2pm, San Fernando Cemetery #2.

It was our privilege to have Olga and Jesse as members of our community for a year a few years ago. May God bless all of you with peace and strength in this difficult time.

I met Mrs. Govea a few years ago when I became her caregiver at her home. I saw her about 2-3 times a week, and I quickly became very attached to both her and Jesse. They became family to me, and I always looked forward to seeing them weekly.
Even though she was in bad health, she always managed to say PLEASE and THANK YOU.... she was very compassionate.... And clearly she spoke from the heart, when she talked about the loves of her life.... Jesse and her beautiful daughters, and her grandkids.
She was so very proud of her beautiful family! ❣
May GOD BLESS her surviving family ... BUT KNOW that you now have a GUARDIAN ANGEL.... When you're really missing your beautiful mom....
TALK TO HER AS IF SHE IS RIGHT BEDSIDE YOU! You will feel the warmth.

Linda, Olga’s daughter, and I were roommates at Trinity University in the 80’s. I am from KS and remember Mr. & Mrs. Govea always welcoming me into their home for a good meal or to attend mass with them or just hang out. Olga was always very kind, loving and made me feel at home. Her faith was very strong and I know she is now with our Father in Heaven. She will be missed by those of us who remain on this earth.

Olga & Jesse have been my neighbors for over 3 decades. Olga was a loving sweet Christian who was always ready to help anyone . Always with a beautiful smile and arms ready for a hug. I will miss her.
