Patricia McAlpin Obituary

Patricia Peyton McAlpin
June 18, 1928 - November 28, 2025
Patricia Peyton McAlpin, 97, of San Antonio, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Friday, November 28, 2025. Born on June 18, 1928, Patricia lived a long, joyful, faith-filled life marked by love, service, intelligence, and an unwavering trust in God.
Patricia was the devoted wife of Courtenay ("Coco") W. McAlpin, Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful life and a deep, enduring partnership. Together they raised two beloved children, Courtenay ("Chico") McAlpin Jr. and Kathleen McAlpin Sandness, Md., both of whom inherited their mother's compassion and her passion for helping God heal the suffering.
A proud San Antonian, Patricia attended Alamo Heights High School, graduating in 1945. She then went on to the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Known for her brilliance and spirit, Patricia was both an exceptional student-maintaining a high GPA-and a dynamic leader. She served as quarterback of her sorority's "powder puff" football team, guiding them all the way to the championship that year.
Patricia was a woman of remarkable talents. She was beautiful, intelligent, and surprisingly formidable-deadly with a shotgun, as many friends fondly recalled. She often outshot the men around her, frequently being the first to reach her limit of birds during hunting outings.
Above all, Patricia was a woman of profound faith and compassion. Drawn deeply into the spiritual life, she dedicated herself to serving the disadvantaged and to the healing ministries of the Episcopal Church. She fed the poor at the Christ Church Saturday Morning/Sidewalk Food Pantry, she comforted the aging at Morningside Ministries and other senior communities, and devoted countless hours to ministries that brought hope, prayer, and dignity to those in need.
Patricia's prayer ministry became her life's passion. Time and again, she witnessed miracles unfold before her eyes-moments of healing, restoration, and grace that left no doubt that God listened to her sincere and steadfast prayers. Word spread, and people sought her out specifically because they believed, that God answered the petitions of this devoted woman.
Her life was richly blessed, and her heart overflowed with joy as she witnessed God's promises becoming true, again and again, in the lives of those she served.
Patricia leaves a legacy of faith, strength, love, and service-one that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her soul rest in eternal peace.

A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Place, San Antonio, Texas 78212.
