With a heavy heart I wanted to pass on this sad news about the passing of a dear friend of HHS, Paul Emerson. I first met Paul in 2008 when he called me up asking if I could use "some" dog food. I said, "Sure, how much do you have?" (thinking he had a bag or two to donate). He said, "A truck load". He wasn't kidding! Paul continued to bring us donated pet food from several resources over the next 8 years. He also delivered food to Kinky Friedman's Utopia Refuge for dogs. Paul's donations helped us start the Pet Food Bank portion of HHS which lasted for several years until donations and backs gave out. (Paul along with Stephanie Dunlea and Lois Lanigan Tanigawa were instrumental in operating the Pet Food bank). We gave out thousands of pounds of pet food to people in need, either because of financial difficulties or just lots of pets to feed. Other rescues benefited as well. Paul was a kind and soft spoken man who loved his dogs. We will miss you Paul!

We are next door neighbors of Paul and Marty. Jim and I have such fond memories of Paul. We knew him since 1995 when we moved to the neighborhood. We will miss you Paul! He loved driving the dogs around and keeping them active. Such a big heart for all animals!

Ran into Paul a couple years ago at the GYM swimming. It was good to see him, always an engaging gentlemen. I am lucky to have known him and enjoyed working with him.

Paul and I worked together many years on Security Hill. He was a very good person and always tried to help where he could. He will be missed. I send my sincere sympathy to all his family members. God Bless you.
