Ramiro Cavazos Obituary
Ramiro Cavazos, 72, entered into eternal rest with the Lord Thursday, October 3, 2002 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX. He was a fifth generation Texan, born July 31, 1930 to a Weslaco pioneer family; Filiberto Cavazos, Sr. and Herlinda Garza Cavazos and was a lifetime Weslaco resident. He was a direct decendant of "Jose Narciso Cavazos" who was a recipient of the Spanish Land Grant that Today is part of the King Ranch and his father, Filiberto, helped survey the city of Weslaco in 1919. He graduated from Weslaco High School, attended Pan American College, served with the National Guard Reserve and was a dedicated public servant in Hidalgo County having served as a Justice of The Peace for 11 years and a Hidalgo County Commissioner for 12 years. He was also a teacher, rancher and businessman. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Emilio Cavazos, Filiberto Cavazos, Jr. and Luciano Cavazos. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years of marriage, Emma Cavazos of Weslaco; four children, Ramiro A. Cavazos of San Antonio, Aizar Cavazos of Weslaco, Victor H. Cavazos of San Antonio and Melissa R. Cavazos of Weslaco; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Brandie and Aizar; two brothers, Daniel Cavazos of McAllen and Noe Cavazos of Weslaco; two sisters, Oralia Karam of McAllen and Lucila Cavazos of Weslaco; also surviving are many nephews and nieces. Mr. Cavazos was a simple man with a great sense of humor, had a love for music and charismatic smile and will be dearly missed by all his family members and friends. Visitation was held Friday, October 4, 2002 at Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco, "Chapel of The Angels" from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary that was recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Today, October 5, 2002 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Lee D'Acosta. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Noe Cavazos Jr., Aizar Cavazos, Tony Cavazos, Victor Cavazos, Ramiro Cavazos Jr. and Joe Karam.
