Richard Lawrence (RL) Price passed away on May 7, 2022 at the age of 85.
He was born on October 20, 1936 to John and Monnie Fay Price in Fannin, Texas. RL grew up in Royce City and Garland and graduated from Garland High School in 1955. He graduated from North Texas State University earning a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1959. At North Texas State, he met his beloved wife Helen Machart and they were married on October 11, 1958.
After serving in the Navy, he went to work with Kraft Foods. He started at Kraft's plant in Garland, working the night shift wrapping caramels. He was transferred to their headquarters in Chicago and promoted until he eventually became Vice President of Distribution and Transportation. While working at Kraft, in 1971, he earned a law degree from Loyola University, Chicago. He also graduated from the Harvard Advanced Management Program, Graduate School of Business Administration in 1982. He retired after over 30 years with Kraft in 1992.
After retiring to San Antonio, he traveled the world with Helen, volunteered at Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) and tinkered with his 1951 Mercury. He enjoyed playing dominoes, learning at his Bible and history classes and visiting his grandkids. He exercised every morning at the Dominion generously sampling their free coffee and pastries.
RL is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Helen.
He is survived by sister Peggy Goodwin and her husband Joe; daughter Lucinda Vickers and her husband Joe; daughter Andrea Thompson and her husband Marc; and son Russell Price and his wife Cynthia; and his beloved grandchildren: Alexandra Michelin, Erika Michelin, Mary Jane Vickers, Jessie Michelin, Elizabeth Price, Thomas Price, Morgan Smith, Madison Smith and Mason Smith and countless lifelong friends and relatives.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 24th at 2 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, 1600 S. Garland Avenue, Garland, TX 75040, with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dominion Country Club, 1 Dominion Drive, San Antonio, TX 78257. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CASA, 1956 S. WW White Road, San Antonio, TX 78222.

Peggy, so sorry to hear about my handsome cousin! He was so special to me! I wish I could make his service but I´m flat on my back in rehab from back surgery on may 3rd in Plano! My prayers are with you , Joe & all RL´ sfamily. I have lost so many of my first cousins on both sides! So sad! I think of you & Joe often. Please give my heart felt condolences to all the families

RL was an amazing CASA impact along with his wife. They impacted the lives of many children in Bexar county and often took on large sibling groups. His legacy will live on in the hearts of the children and families he served.
