Robert Charles "Bob" Huxel, age 77, passed away June 30, 2023. He was born May 16, 1946, in Springfield, Ohio, the second son of Ray and Ruth Huxel.
Bob graduated from Springfield South High School and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder before enlisting in the US Army. He was selected by the White House Communications Agency as a presidential switchboard operator and stationed at Camp David in Thurmont, MD. After the military Bob returned to college and graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle before beginning a decades-long career in the insurance field. Working on behalf of national and state trade insurance associations as well as individual insurance companies, Bob was tireless in supporting his clients. His extensive understanding of insurance issues and professional advice made him invaluable among his peers.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Melissa "Missy" Escamilla, by his parents Raymond Conrad Huxel and Ruth Fulton Huxel, and his brother Larry Lee Huxel.
He is survived by his wife Angie Escamilla Huxel, daughters Stephanie Huxel Heinchon (Chris), Lauren Huxel Stuart (Blaine) and April Escamilla Hawthorn (Ken); grandsons Corbin James Heinchon (Brittany), Tanner Charles Heinchon, and Logan Michael Heinchon; granddaughters Zena Marie Stuart and Athena Rose Charlotte Stuart. He is interred in Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to San Antonio Food Bank, http://www.safoodbank.org.
