"Uncle Bob" brought such sunshine and smiles to my Brother and I as we each separately made our way through Air Force Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base. For me in particular, I will never forget Thanksgiving 1998 when Anne and "Uncle Bob" picked up a fellow trainee and me in his Cadillac to whisk us away for the day to the Country Club, the Botanic Gardens and the Hard Rock Cafe. It was the best Thanksgiving ever. I will always fondly remember Aunt Gloria and Uncle Bob.

Anne,
I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the memorial service, but please know that you have been, and continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. We were all blessed to have known Bob.

Anne, to say that Bob was a Gentleman and a Scholar would not do him justice. He was also a friend, a role model and a mentor with an impish smile and a twinkle in his eye that could not be forgotten. I am a better scientist and a better person for having known him. His legacy will live on, reflected in his “kids” who will continue to be a credit to him. The world has lost a truly good human being.

You have my deepest sympathy. It was a blessing and an honor to have known Bob.

Bob's impact and influence on my life cannot be measured. Since I never knew my biological father, he was my role model. I am very fortunate that he was my mentor throughout my graduate career and beyond. I will miss his calm and steady advice.

Dr. Bob was a stellar example of Christian life. An accomplished scientist, he used his positions to serve all those in his path. Dr. Bob was one of the sweetest, kindest people I have met. As he is welcomed home, I'm certain it will be with the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Condolences to all who loved him, but what an example of a life well-lived!
