Rogelio Gonzalez Obituary

Our beloved son and brother, Rogelio (Roger) Gonzalez passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Life Care Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Roger was born on March 29, 1953 and was a graduate of Luther Burbank High School. Roger enjoyed the simpler things in life such as watching a Dallas Cowboy football game or playing a good game of pool. In his later years he was his mother's constant companion at Bingo games throughout the city. Roger was plagued with numerous illnesses in his lifetime and it was through those ailments that he touched the lives of many doctors and nurses who also grew to love and care for him. To all those in the medical field that cared for him, we Thank You, with a special thanks to Dr. Prakash R. Nancherla, M.D. Roger is survived by his mother, Maria T. Gonzalez, his brother, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Jr., his sisters Ana Maria Scott, Yolanda G. Perez, Diana Grace Colunga, Dora Jean Villarreal, Suzanne Lozano and numerous nephews, nieces and family members. He was preceded in death by his father Guadalupe Gonzalez and his brother Juan Gonzalez. Beloved brother you have gone from this world where you struggled with so much pain to a place where you are free and you will never have to suffer again. We will miss you. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in the Angelus Chapel, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:30 A.M. for a Funeral Mass to be offered at 9:00 A.M. at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the Gonzalez family at www.theangelusfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by: The Angelus Funeral Home

We were sad to hear of Roger's passing. Though we hadn't seen each other in a good while, I will always remember the good times we had when we would go to the beach with my Dad and Tio Lupe. His smile and good nature will always be remembered.

My condolences to the entire Gonzalez family. I first met Roger while working at the Brady/Green Clinic and played softball with him. His smile and caring personality made him a well-liked person. I have not seen him since his days with the Brady/Green but I never forgot his kind heart and respect for others.
