Harold Sisco Obituary

Harold J. Sisco, 90, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Friday, Oct. 5, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township. He was the loving husband of Adelaide G. (Homan) Sisco and they were married on Sept. 28, 1941, celebrating 66 years of marriage.

Born on June 17, 1917, in Echo Lake, Passaic County, N.J., he was the son of the late Leslie and Mary (Cremins) Sisco. He was a resident of Monroe County most of his lifetime.

He was a member of The Church of Saint Luke in Stroudsburg; Francis T. Butler Council #4048 of the Knights of Columbus in Stroudsburg; Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1106 in Stroudsburg; and he delivered Meals-on-Wheels for 14 years.

Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was a machinist for the International Boiler Works in Stroudsburg for more than 40 years.

He graduated from Pocono Mountain High School in 1934, then attended Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind. After that he attended East Stroudsburg Teacher College.

In his youth he was a local baseball star, first in high school and then in an adult league in Tannersville and Stroudsburg. After his playing days, he coached Little League baseball in Stroudsburg, being one of the organization's first coaches and also being instrumental to the start of Little League baseball in Stroudsburg.

He also loved to bowl, fish and hunt.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, James L. Sisco and his companion, Francis X. Tucci, of Hazelton; his sister-in-law, Lillian Butts of Stroudsburg; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Miller and Myrtle Butz, and his sister-in-law, Emily Smiley.

There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 N. Ninth St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360. A viewing will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Church of Saint Luke, 818 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Cremation will follow the Mass. Burial of his cremains will be held at the convenience of the family at Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Church of Saint Luke, 818 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360, or Pocono Medical Home Care Nurses, 727 Ann St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
