Rudy V. Almaguer (82) went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2022.
He was the last survivor of the 13 children born to Manuel and Aguedita Villarreal Almaguer.
Yolanda Montez and Rudy met in 5th grade and would marry on July 6, 1963, at St. Paul Catholic Church. He attended De Zavala Elementary, Rhodes Jr. High and Lanier High School where he graduated in 1959. He proudly served in the US Army from 1959 to 1965. Rudy was in sales at numerous furniture stores, owned his own furniture store for 10 years and retired as a sales representative from Imperial Bedding in south Texas and Mexico. He enjoyed casinos, horse racing, and trips around the world. As Vice President of the Lanier Fabulous Fifties club, Rudy was instrumental in raising funds to support organizations and scholarships.
Rudy is survived by his wife Yolanda, sons Stephen Wayne and Jeffrey Thomas, grandson Anthony Michael Almaguer and an abundance of nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Visitation 9:30-11a, Rosary 11:00a, Mass 11:30a, with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30p.
