I would like to pay tribute to Ruth Rogers. Janet and I grew up togeher from the age of 5. Our families lived directly across the street from each other. So Janet's Mother was "Mrs. Rogers" to me until 1996. It was then that I moved back into my family home. It was then that the lady I had grown up around became "Ruth" to me. We had both suffered great losses of loved ones. From then on Ruth and I became the best of friends. We shared the sad along with the uplifting and had many enjoyable talks and visists about any number of things. We mostly shared the same political views. Ruth was a fabulous cook. She loved to bake Christmas cookies and give them as gifts that were enjoyed by those who received them. She loved Billy Graham and his family. I always enjoyed hearing her story of how she met him when he was first starting out. She followed him and donated to his ministry. She also loved Victor Borge and was greatly entertained watching videos of his performances. She was also a handywoman around the house - never afraid to tackle what needed fixing. Ruth was devoted and loyal - as a wife to Jack and as a mother to Janet. How proud she was of Janet's many accomplishments. And she was a good, good neighbor - always looking out for those she cared about. She once became offended when a troublesome neighbor on one side of me started driving across my driveway to exit from his property. I came home from work one day and found that Ruth had constructed and installed a PVC pipe fence with braided clothesline to put that person on notice he was not to cross the line. She painted everything white. She was 80 at the time. She mowed and edged her own lawn until she was 84. She was such a good listener. I could discuss anything with her. She was also wonderful company when we would go on little jaunts around town to eat or to see a movie. She moved in with Janet after a bout of illness in 2006. Janet took beautiful care of her. But I never stopped missing her. She was my Little Buddy. I loved her dearly and admired her Christian faith. She is truly home now.

Ruth and Jack were our neighbors living across the street when we were growing up. Nicest neighbors ever. It was such a delight sitting with her in her home. Always smiling and quite entertaining. I will miss her very much.

Ruth Rogers lit up the room with her smile and with that mischievous twinkle in her eye, could deliver a punch line like any of the Golden Girls. Thanksgiving will not be the same without you Miss Ruth, but I know you will be trading stories and laughter with Jack and my grandparents in a much better place. Janet, I love you and treasure the memories I have with you and your mom. Love, Rebecca
