In Loving Memory of Samuel Edward Thomas, Jr. Samuel Edward Thomas, Jr., was born on November 5, 1942, to Ora Belle Henry and Samuel Edward Thomas, Sr. in Winchester, Virginia. He grew up in Safety Harbor, Florida before moving to San Antonio, Texas. He journeyed into eternity on November 25, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, he shared 54 years and 10 months of wedded bliss with his beloved wife, Sheri Garland. Samuel's legacy lives on through his daughter, Kristi, and her husband Herbert Zimmerman, Jr. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Herbert John Zimmerman, III, and Aiden Edward Zimmerman, who brought immeasurable joy into his life. In 1982, Samuel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Professions from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in San Marcos, Texas, a testament to his commitment to knowledge and personal growth. Professionally, Samuel made a lasting impact as an x-ray technician at Santa Rosa Hospital before becoming a dedicated member of a mobile x-ray company. His commitment to the health profession reflected his compassionate and caring nature. Samuel's spiritual journey took him through the halls of Eastwood Christian Church where he and Sheri served as youth group sponsors, Thousand Oaks Christian Church where he was ordained as a Deacon and, and Alamo City Fellowship, where his faith blossomed and found expression in a life well-lived. Beyond his professional and spiritual endeavors, Samuel was a man of diverse passions. He rode and collected motorcycles, navigated the waters aboard his two sailboats, and sped across Canyon Lake in his motorboat. Not just content with terrestrial and aquatic adventures, Samuel also enjoyed racing remote control boats and airplanes, demonstrating his zest for life. Samuel's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, wonderful friend, and a man of unwavering faith and diverse interests. May he rest in peace, his spirit forever sailing the winds and racing one of his motorcycles he so dearly loved. A memorial service will be held on December 16, 2023 at 10:00am at Alamo City Church, 6434 I-35 N, San Antonio, TX 78218.
