Sandra Kuhns Obituary
Sandra Hollenbeck Kuhns went to be with her Lord and Risen Savior on 8/8/06, after a valiant battle against cancer. She was born in Elmira, New York on Oct. 22, 1934. Sandy pursued her dream of being a teacher with her undergraduate degree from Trinity University and went on to complete a Master's in Education from The University of Texas. As a teacher she was dedicated to excellence in her classroom, working for North East I.S.D. for 35 years. Christian beliefs were central to her life, as a former member of Trinity Baptist Church and as a current member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church; she was active in 'Daughters of The King' and 'Cursillo'. Her community service activities also included The Greater San Antonio Quilt Guild, Snappy Scrappers Quilt Bee, Red Hat Society - Sew Sassy Chapter, Boysville Auxiliary, and the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Lenox and Beulah Hollenbeck. She is survived by: her husband Albert Kuhns; brother Dr. Russell and Ginger Hollenbeck; sisters Isabelle Alice Dorsey, and Tom and Sylvia Avery; daughters Russ and Anne Nicholas, and Sharon Borders; grandchildren Eli and Jaime Weddell, Rick and Amber Grider, Amy Weddell, and Zachary Borders; as well as numerous nephews and nieces and their children. Memorial services will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 6110 NW Loop 410, on Friday 8/11/06 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the Family respectfully requests that memorials donations be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, American Cancer Society or Boysville. Sandy was an inspiration to all she knew through her Christ centered patience, kindness, grace and calm demeanor, for which she will be greatly missed. 'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteous, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing'. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
