Sarah Martinez Obituary

MARTINEZ
Sarah Oralia Martinez went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 21, 2010. She was given a temporary life on this earth, and we know that she now has eternal life with God. Sarah had a special glow about her that inspired everyone she came in contact with. Sarah was a strong-willed person who excelled in everything she did. Aside from receiving her Associates Degree from St. Phillips College, where she was recently inducted into Sigma Alpha Pi, Sarah was also active in tennis, basketball and even played drums in a rock band. She also competed for entrance into the Miss Teen U.S.A. pageant at age 16. Sarah was to attend Texas State University in August 2010. Sarah is now sitting in Heaven where her love continues to shower all her family and friends everyday. Sarah is our angel, and the memories that she has left far exceed the number of years she was with us. We will always cherish those memories. We will miss you tremendously, but we know you are always with us. Sarah is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Estanislado V. Martinez, Sr. and maternal grandfather Felix Guerra, Jr. She is survived by her father Estanislado "Stanley" Martinez, Jr., mother Irma Martinez, brothers Estanislado "Bubba" Martinez III (Leslie N.), and Matthew Martinez, maternal grandmother Oralia Guerra and paternal grandmother Timotea M. Herrera, nephew Estanislado "Tanis" Martinez IV, as well as numerous other family members, friends, and her beloved cat Simba. Visitation will begin Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 3pm with a prayer service to be held at 7pm. A funeral service will be held in the Castillo Mission Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 9:30am with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Altho we didnt talk a whole lot since high school, only when ever you would call to check on me and my daugther. i would talk of you often to my husdand, about how you were always asking my advice on boys, i would get yours on life, and how you always warned me about him, lol. I miss you so much! I wish we had more time to see eachother. Im sorry we got so distant, but i want you to know that i carry you everywhere i go in my car. I have a picture of you hanging from my mirror, and every time i drive fast it looks like your dancing to the music on the radio. I will never forget my last memory of you, in my mothers house holding my baby at "King Roman's" 19th birthday party! Holding my child gave you a new light that made you look so radiant, it only makes me wonder. I love you Sarah "Martz"

my dearest condolences to sarahs family ... Me and Sarah were close at one time. I remember when we would eat together at lunch when we worked at WHMC summer hire program she was always so happy and lit up with sunshine my favorite memory is when it was mexican food day in the chow hall and the clerk didn't charge her for the enchiladas because she put soooo much cheese on them she couldn't see them... we all laughed histerically when she bit into them and the cheese left a huge string all the way from her mouth to the plate ... I am just upset that i was so busy before i came up to alaska in february we were trying to get to gether before i left but time just flew by . Sarah if you can read this i'm sorry for not seeing you but i miss you and i know you are going to be a beautiful angel.

Sarah, from your extended family here at Wilford Hall Medical Center "WE WILL MISS YOU DEARLY". You joined our Pediatric Department team last year as a summer hire, and well, I don't think our department was 100% prepared for someone like you. We (Michelle McGinnis, Debbie Benavides and myself) enjoyed your presence day in and day out all summer long. As your immediate supervisor, I couldn't have had a better employee. I specifically remember your willingness to keep busy and help out the pediatric department, as well as, helping out our sub-specialty clinic and the pulmonary clinic. Even though the extra clinics were not assigned to your job description, you went above and beyond the call of duty to learn the clinics structure. Those qualities of perseverance did not go unnoticed. We (the above mentioned) enjoyed your stories and felt that being only 20 at the time, you sure did have many journeys in life. Everything from your youth as a little girl, your love for your family through the good & strength testing times, your independent ways to strive for excellence, your motherly ways of caring for Simba, also you being a drummer in a rock band and kicking butt at your schools talent show, the stories always seemed to brighten your day and ours. We all vowed to be in attendace at your wedding with Jonathon Davis from Korn, LOL! We all had nicknames in our department by your request and almost felt that once you joined our group you and "only you" changed the whole dynamics completely. WE will miss you girly, but remember from one drummer to another, the show must go on. So grab your drum sticks and prepare for the biggest concert yet to play, the stage is all yours. RoCk On!

I met Sarah as a freshman coming into Brackenridge High School wanting to play tennis. She flourished into a beautiful young woman. She excelled in tennis because of all of her hard work and dedication, she also approached life in the same way with determination to have it all. She loved life to its fullest and was always smiling. She touched many lives and brought a sense of happiness to all. She always wanted more out of life and eager to learn.

My heart and prayers go out to her family. May God be with all of you during this time. I feel very blessed that I was able to know such a beautiful young woman.

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing wisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same".
You have our greatest sympathy, and our hearts are truly saddened. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with you

April 25, 2010

Dear Sarah, I miss you all the time now I still expect to get a hug from you when I go to school. I still expect to here you laugh or just to see you smile. It's hard to except that you're in heaven now but I know you would want me to keep going. I feel like god showed me what an angel looked like and then took her from me. But I also know that everything happens for a reason and the lord needed you in heaven more then he needed you here. I will see you when I get there and then we can finally have are eating contest. I've said this before but I'll say it again you will probably win. I will love you always and you will forever be in my heart I know you're watching over all of us now and that gives me some comfort. Rest in peace Sarah till we meet again. Love,Eddie Moreno
