Sharon Lynn Chaney Harrison
April 5, 1942 - December 24, 2025
Sharon Lynn Chaney Harrison, age 83, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on December 24, 2025 Christmas Eve.
Born on Easter Sunday in Houston, Texas, Sharon was an only child and seventh-generation Texan. She moved to Dallas at the age of six, attending Sunset High School before continuing her education at Texas State University and UTSA.
On June 6, 1964, Sharon married George Roy Harrison in Dallas. During his Army service, Sharon and George made lifelong friends as they were stationed in Kansas, Louisiana, Korea, and Texas. Especially, the Shumaker and Stitelman families.
She was a descendant of Margaret Catherine Moore Barry, Revolutionary War scout and guide, known as the Heroine of the Battle of Cowpens. Sharon served on multiple boards as a member of clubs such as the Alamo Mission Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, San Jacinto Descendants, Colonial Dames, Ladies of the Thistle and Magna Charta Dames.
In her youth, she attended Christ Episcopal Church in Dallas and continued worship there when visiting family. For over 53 years, she was a devoted member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in San Antonio, where she served on the Altar Guild. Volunteering in school programs she was a Girl Scout troop leader and Cub Scout den mother.
Sharon spent 30 years as Executive Assistant to CEO and President of Frontier Enterprises, Jim Hasslocher. She was very fond of the Hasslocher family, children and grandchildren. Sharon was honored in 2003 as Distinguished Restaurateur of the Year by the San Antonio Restaurant Association.
Delighting in travel, especially her trips to the UK led by Reverend Joseph and Goode Di Raddo with St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She generously ensured that her children and grandchildren also experienced the joy of traveling through Europe. One of her treasured memories was meeting Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip during their visit to San Antonio in 1991.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, George Roy Harrison; her parents, Manton Stover Chaney and Mary Edna Parker Chaney.
She is survived by her children, Tara Lynn Harrison Richardson and John Chaney Harrison; grandchildren, Mollie Lynn Richardson (Ryan Berger), Ryan George Richardson (Makayla Williams), and Reagan Richardson; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Melinda Berger and Ryan George Richardson, Jr. ("JR"). She is also survived by stepdaughters, Michelle Harrison McAllister and Marie Harrison Tierney.
Sharon is lovingly remembered by her cousin, Carole Petteway Smith, who was more like a sister. Carole's sons, Chris Wilson (Peggy) and Jon Davidson (Joanne). Her Chaney cousins, the Harrison and Carlegis families.
Pallbearers will be her son John Harrison, grandsons Ryan Richardson and Reagan Richardson, Godson Patrick Richardson, Ryan Berger, and Corbin Smith.
Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on January 8, 2025, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 11 St. Luke's Lane, San Antonio, Texas 78209. Followed by a reception in the church parlor.
Burial service will be at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sharon's name to the George R. Harrison Scholarship Fund George R. Harrison Scholarship Fund or to St. Luke's Episcopal Church (210) 828-6425.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Sage Park Assisted Living, whose compassionate staff and residents brought Sharon great joy.

Sharon's love was deep, steadfast, and generous. She will be profoundly missed by her loving family and friends.
