Susan Alves Bonnette, age 68, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in San Antonio. She was born March 2, 1953 in Long Beach, California.

Susan graduated from Lafayette High School, Lafayette, Louisiana, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, in 1974. She worked for the Louisiana Department of Education, and the Louisiana Department of Revenue and Taxation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before moving to Plano, Texas, where she worked for the Plano Independent School District. She was very active in community activities through the Junior League of Plano as well as other charitable organizations. Additionally, she was a frequent volunteer at Christ United Methodist Church and active in the PTO at all the schools that her children attended. She then moved to San Antonio, where she became active in the alumnae chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Additionally, she was passionate about reading and was an active member of a local book club.

Susan married Steve Bonnette in Baton Rouge in 1975. She is survived by Steve, daughters Stephanie Arnold (Brett) and Elizabeth Eliott Lockhart (Rudi), and grandchildren Gregory Arnold, Julia Eliott Lockhart, Caroline Arnold, and Grant Arnold.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sue Alves and Richard Alves, Sr., and her brother, Richard Alves, Jr.

A memorial service will be held for Susan at Coker United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
