Virginia Grace Kirby was born on March 13, 1931, in Prosper, Texas. The third-oldest of six children, Virginia enjoyed school and roller skating in her youth. She married her high school sweetheart, Henry Keith Tucker, in 1948, and together they raised four beautiful children.
After more than three decades as a homemaker and Air Force spouse, Virginia took a leap and enrolled at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio in the 1980s. Upon earning a bachelor's degree in education, she taught kindergarten for 12-plus years. Many of her students called her Mrs. T.
Virginia loved fast cars, road trips and wildflowers. She enjoyed exploring her beautiful adopted hometown of San Antonio and the surrounding Hill Country, including LBJ State Park, Pedernales Falls, and Lost Maples. With her sister Patsy, her daughters, and her granddaughters, she made trips across the American West and to national parks, including Yellowstone, and to Graceland. She also traveled internationally, visiting England, Scotland, Sweden, and Norway.
Among the many cars she owned and treasured over the years, Virginia's favorite was her Corvette, which she called "the silver bullet."
Southside Baptist Church was Virginia's faith home, and she loved her friends there. A lifelong voracious reader, she especially liked mysteries. Virginia adored dogs and cats and never met a stray she would not bring home. Most of all, Virginia loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her immense joy.
Virginia was called to eternal rest on November 24, 2025, at 94½ years old. She will be missed by all who knew her. Virginia is survived by her daughters Sandra (John) Williamson, Ginia (David) Littlepage, and Toni (Don) Thompson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Keith Tucker; her son, Henry K. Tucker Jr.; her sisters and brother; and numerous other relatives.
A memorial and celebration of Virginia's life will be held Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at 11 a.m., with a luncheon immediately following at Southside Baptist Church at 2010 South Loop 1604 E. in San Antonio, Texas 78264.
