Wana Elliott Obituary

ELLIOTT
Wana Ruth Hopson Elliott passed away on August 5, 2010. She was born in Boyd, Texas on July 25, 1923 and was the second child of Robert B. and Susie E. Hopson. She attended Decatur High School where she graduated as class Valedictorian at age 16 and then attended Decatur Baptist College. Wana was married to James E. (Jim) Elliott (d.) for 54 years. Wana worked as a secretary for the railroad, several different companies and the Houston Public School System for many years. She then worked and retired with the Gregg County Co-Op School System in Gladewater, Texas. In 1989, she moved to San Antonio and enjoyed many friends she met through church, playing bridge and volunteering. Wana is survived by her children, Betty Rost (David), Robert Elliott (Jan Thomas), Barbara Kern, Billy Elliott (Pam), and Brenda Eureste (Ralph); her grandchildren, Rachel Rost, Heather Kern, Heather Elliott, Hillary Kern, Kaley Elliott, Elliott Eureste, Molly Eureste, and Corey Elliott; sister, Bobbi Wilhite; brother, Ralph Hopson (Margie) and brother-in-law, John W. Elliott as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her bridge companions, Dr. Nadine Liu, the staff and residents of Amber Oaks and many friends that she met in the San Antonio area. A memorial service for Wana will be held at Northern Hills United Methodist Church Saturday, August 14th at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Special Olympics of Texas (sotx.org)
