Robert Calhoun Obituary

Robert Joseph Calhoun, Sr., born March 9, 1935 in Monroe, LA, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 in Houston. He was reared in Kingsville, TX and attended Frederick Douglas School there. He is a 1953 graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School and St. Philip's College, San Antonio, and Criminal Wayland Baptist College, BS Degree in Criminal Justice. He served in the Air Force in the police force. He was employed by Defense Contractor Mason, Silas and Hagger, Diamond Shamrock, Amarillo, Houston Power and Light as a computer specialist. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lilla Calhoun; sister, Ida; and three brothers, George Jr., Calvin and Melvin. His survivors include his wife, Willie; two sons, Robert Jr. and William; three grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Hays, San Antonio, Dorothy Hendrix and Mary Etta Toliver, both of Texas City; two brothers, Thomas Calhoun, Elgin, IL and Richard Edwin Calhoun, Sr., South San Antonio. The Wake Service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 6 P.M. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 11:00 A.M., both Services at the McCoy and Harrison Funeral Home, Houston. The Services will be officiated by his pastor, Rev. Todd Wheelock, New Vision Baptist Church. Internment will follow at Houston Veteran's Cemetery. The Services are entrusted to McCoy and Harrison Funeral Home, 4819 Martin Luther King Blvd., Houston, TX. 77021 (713-659-7618).
