Yvonne Nell Whitney (née Williams, formerly Deckard), of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on September 25, 2025 at the age of 77 with her husband by her side. Born on May 20, 1948, she lived with conviction, humor, and a strong sense of who she was.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, John "J.W." Whitney, and her grandchildren Cheyenne Renae Deckard and Davin Wyatt Deckard. She was preceded in death by her son, Officer Robert "Bobby" C. Deckard, Jr., whose memory remained a steady presence in her life.

Yvonne is also survived by her siblings Jane Williams, Eddie Williams (wife Susan), and Fred Williams (wife Liz); nieces Misty Allison, Natalie Bullinger (Mike Oliveira), and Whitney Bucher (Andrea Bucher); and great-nieces and nephews Zoey Allison, Zach Allison, Hunter Bullinger, Grayson Williams, and Reagan Williams.

After graduating from Highlands High School (Class of 1966), Yvonne worked for many years in San Antonio as a bank teller at NBC Bank Brooksfield and Frost Bank. Later, she served as a receptionist at TETCO. She retired in La Vernia, where she lived out her later years.

She enjoyed square dancing and was an active member of Swinging Singles, PI-R-Squares, and Hermann Sons. She also spent time reading and doing needlework-quiet pastimes that offered a creative outlet.

Yvonne was unfiltered and unapologetically herself-a trait that those who knew her will remember with a smile, a nod, or a story that still makes them laugh.

Yvonne was always proud of her son's service on the San Antonio Police Department. Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the love and support San Antonio Police Department has shown Yvonne over the years.
