Aleksander Jarosz March 15, 1917 to August 14, 2007 Aleksander Jarosz, age 90, made his transition, August 14th surrounded by his family in Bonsall, CA. Aleks was born in Kielce, Poland where his mother raised him, struggling with poverty. He learned early to rely on his wits to survive. As a young man, he joined the Polish army and was captured when Hilter invaded Poland. He spent 6 years in a Nazi POW camp. That experience took a profound toll on his health and marked him for the rest of his life. After the war, he met Genia Zajaczkowska in a refugee camp in Germany. They married in 1947 and immigrated to Detroit, Michigan in 1951 where they raised four daughters. They were involved in the Polish community and the Catholic Church there, sending their children to Catholic school, Polish school, Polish dance/singing and Polish Scouts. He loved to dance the polka with his wife and daughters. Aleks worked for General Motors for over 25 years and was very well regarded for his hard work. In 1962, he gained US citizenship, of which he was very proud because he deeply loved this country, where he experienced freedom and opportunity. After retiring from GM, Aleks and Genia lived in Tampa, FL for 20 years, where they again were active in the Catholic Church and formed many friendships. Aleks enjoyed fishing from the pier and visits from family and friends. Daughter Halina helped them move to California when their health declined. She has been their guardian angel. Genia made her transition in 2003 and Aleks has been cared for by Halina and her husband Barry in their home since then. He volunteered at the St. Peter's Catholic Church and Fallbrook Skilled Nursing Facility as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Halina Jarosz-Renaud and Barry Renaud, Eva & Roger McGinnis, Christina & Gary Holbrook and Josie and Fred Silver; his grandchildren, Christopher Renaud, Jenny Jones, Jaime Cox, Andrea McGinnis, Lewis and Holly Silver, and great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Riley Jones. Vistation will be at 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday, August 17th at Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary in Fallbrook. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Church in Fallbrook at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 18th followed by burial at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Fallbrook Hospital Hospice, 624 E. Elder Street in Fallbrook, CA 92028. Sign the Guest Book online
