Andrew Hook Obituary
A San Diego local, Andy grew up in the Point Loma area, graduating from Point Loma High School in 1979. He was a natural athlete who loved surfing and being out on the water. He worked as a custom furniture builder for many years, later transitioning to work as a shipyard sandblaster and painter.
Andy is survived by his parents, Janet and Jerry Hook, siblings Mary Lou Coyne and John Hook, daughters Stephanie Berry and Brittany Hook, grandsons Nathan and Jacob Berry, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Eddie Hook.
The family held a private gathering to celebrate Andy's life, scattering his ashes at sea.

I am so sorry to hear of Andy's passing. We saw each other frequently growing up in southern California along with Eddie, John and Mary Lou. Our Aunt Janet and Uncle Jerry were always so much fun to be around. I miss those days!

Infectious enthusiasm, grace on a wave. Spent many a happy hour with Andy and Eddie at the Hooks house on Elliot all those years ago. Janet, Jerry, Mary Lou and John, Ritu and I offer you our deepest sympathies.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Hook family. So sorry to hear about Andy. I was so fortunate to grow up in Loma Portal with the Hook family. Andy and his brother Eddie were two of my first friends. From the early days playing on the Loma Portal Elementary School playground next to the Hook house on Zola to the great times at Loma Portal Little League. Then the1970´s and 1980´s at Point Loma High School and the endless days surfing all those sacred days at Ocean Beach, Rockslides and No Surf. Lazy days in the sand and killer sunsets. Very special memories. Andy always had that huge Hook smile and laugh. I ran into Andy several years ago and I am so glad that we had a long talk and a couple big hugs. Rest in peace my brother!!
