Anna Christine Pecus

Anna Pecus Obituary

PECUS ANNA CHRISTINE Nov. 8, 1930 to Oct. 12, 2005 Anna Christine Magdalena Sodder Pecus was born on November 8, 1930 in Bombay, India, to parents Piedade and Joseph Sodder. A true Bombay girl, she early on established an independent mindset, all the while staying true to her family in every way. At a time, and in a country, where women in the work place was not common, Anna embarked on a career immediately after her schooling. She worked early on for a number of companies in Bombay in various administrative positions. On October 17, 1954, she married the man that would forever change her life and her destiny, Manny Pecus of Karachi, Pakistan. Together they began a wonderful journey that lasted half a century. On March 6, 1971, Manny and Anna stepped foot in the United States. Anna immediately set out to settle the family and insisted on making her home in Coronado, California. She began work for the EEOC and then San Diego County. She had the honor of being the administrative assistant to the County Clerk and then later the County Clerk/Recorder. She retired on December 31, 1997. At that time, she was diagnosed with Parkinsons/Lewy Body Disease. It began a whole new segment of her life as challenging as any other. She faced her fate bravely and by her example taught us the true meaning of perseverance, determination, and love of life. Anna passed from this life in dignity and grace. Her last hours on this earth were peaceful and surrounded by every member of her family at her bedside. She was predeceased by her husband Manny Pecus on December 7, 2002. She is survived by her children, daughter, Jennifer and Dwight Settle, sons, Vivian Pecus, Ken Pecus and Tom Anderson, Ed and Lisa Pecus; sister, Enid Collaco and family of Bombay; brother, Winston Sodder of Bombay; grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Ashley and Patrick Settle, and Ila Pecus. Donations are suggested to the Parkinson's Disease Association of San Diego, 8555 Aero Drive, Suite 308, San Diego, CA 92123 in the name of Anna Pecus. I first met Anna while working for the County Clerk. I have such fond memories of her and I especially remeber Manny and Anna at our Christmas parties. Could they dance. She always had such a wonderful smile and was blessed with grace. A true woman of substance. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. God Bless you Anna. Dodie Sandoval (Bennett)

I was a new employee working in the basement of the County Courthouse/County Clerk's Older Records Division when I first met Anna. She exuded such friendliness and graciousness especially after learning that I was a newcomer. This was in late 1979. Needless to say, we became friends and she remained a faithful friend since then. She was a wonderful woman, very pleasant and was always cheerful. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. Anna epitomized goodness and love. She would always be in that special place in my heart. "Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her".

Anna will surely be missed by many. She was the most pleasant and cheerful person, very informed in her work and very proud of her children. We met through mutual friends and were happy to find we both worked in the same building so we were able to stay in touch. I was sad to read of her passing.

God Bless you Anna. Though we have never met I feel that I know you as my own mother. Vivian and I have been friends for years and on our annual trip to Peoria (Padres Spring Training)he always brought us up to date on what his Mom and Dad were doing. You can be extremely proud in giving birth to Vivian, you gave us all a tremendous leader and wonderful friend. He will carry on your legacy.

Anna worked with me for many years in the County Clerk's office. She was unfailingly cheerful, competent, and helpful. Her children were the pride and joy of her life.
