I met Barbara through her daughter Kathy as we went to junior and senior high school together. She was one of my favorite people in the world. My own mother died when I was 11 and I remember that Barbara always made me feel loved. I will remember her fondly for the rest of my life.

My Dearest Barb,
I don't know how much truer a friend a person could have in life. We shared so many special moments. You opened your heart and your home to me and I will never forget that as long as my heart still beats. I will always cherish your company.
You were a delightfully giving person, and always positive.
How can one describe the concept and totality of the feeling of being "at home"? What a wonderful feeling it was to always enjoy the effortless spontaneity in which Barbara opened her home to others, myself included, That is her unique gift never to be forgotten.
Thanks Barbara, Your gifts will never be forgotten!
With all my love, David Spencer

Mrs. Gegax was an incredible teacher and one of the kindest souls. She left a lasting imprint on all of her students through the love, compassion, and patience.
I feel blessed to have had her as my first grade teacher as does countless of her other students. She had a heart that nobody else could match and truly did treat every student as if they were her own child.
On behalf of all of her students, we love you Mrs. Gegax, thank you for everything. You will always be remembered fondly.
My condolences to the Gegax family, she was an angel.

Mom, you truly made the world a better place. You brought so much love, joy, and appreciation to so many people. Thank you for teaching me about kindness and about caring for others. You always have been and always will be an inspiration to me. I know you are now in a place of bliss and I know someday we'll be together again. You're forever in my heart. With infinite love, Ellen

Grandmomma,
I am still at a loss for words. There are moments that, regardless of how brief, I forget that you're gone and everything is right in the world. Then I remember and it feels like a stab in my heart each time. I am so lucky to have had you in my life. I will always cherish the memories of you and I having coffee together or going on a road trip (as you know, the Grand Canyon was so magnificent to me when I saw it lol). The countless times that you tucked me in or that you gave me a kiss and told me how much you loved me. I feel like I took those moments for granted. Thank you for everything that you have done for me. Thank you for showing me how to be a good mother, woman, person, and friend. I hope that I can stay the person that you were so proud of. I love you with all my heart and soul. Heart to Heart. 1, 2, 3

When Barbara was working towards her teaching credential, she was my student teacher at Flying Hills School in El Cajon. She was a kind, loving and talented teacher. I remember our conversations and always enjoyed her interactions with our kindergarten students! My heart goes out to the family of Barbara.
Fondly, Jane Lee

To Barbara's beloved family:
Words don't usually fail me, but I'll try to tell you briefly how her LIFE affected me and then when her life on earth ended, how lost I felt to think that she didn't wait for me to come by to visit one more time!!
She was always so positive about everything and some of it wore off on me. Now, if someone asks how I am, I am always "FINE"!!
Barbara, thank you for so much! Your friendship, your cooperation with any "schemes" at school, and your awesome example of unconditional love for the children of OLPH.By now I am sure that you are enjoying just everything glorious about Heaven, especially being with God our Father!!
Love you so much, dear Friend!

My deepest condolences to the family. Mrs. Gegax was one of a kind. All three of my children were blessed to have her at OLPH as their first grade teacher. She had a remarkable gift for teaching. She made every child in her class feel like the brightest, most-loved child in the world. All of my children reflect back with such great memories from their time in her classroom....from studying Egypt to Jackson Pollock abstract painting to the love walk when other students would whisper positive affirmations as one student walked by. She truly inspired and motivated students to do their very best. God certainly gained an angel when he called her home. Rest in peace.

Mrs.Gegax was my first grade teacher at OLPH. I will never forget all of the parties she would throw for us when we were good, all the books she read to us when I was a child., and going back to visit her after I had graduated. One of the greatest teachers and women I have ever met. I will miss your Mrs. Gegax.

Barbara, I had you my whole life and I still do. You will still be with me but I know you're in a better place along with so many others. Ma, Daddy and all those we loved so much...when you see Ed give him a big hug from me. Tell him how much I miss him and always will. I miss you, no other sister could be so wonderful! I love you more than words can ever say. 1-4-3 M

I can't begin to express my sadness for the loss of such a special friend. You brought so much joy into this world with a smile on your face. You raised such a beautiful family and were always proud of each of then. You were selfless in everything you did. You made my life better and took me in as one of your own. The fun family times we shared will never be forgotten. You have always been a warrior. I love you to the moon and back. Rest in Paradise. Until we meet again.
I will always remember the great times Jan, Christopher, and I spent with you and all of your family in since meeting you in 1991. My thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family as they continue their own journey with the sweet memories of all they were blessed to share with you.
Love,
Jon & Jan
