Charles Nockey Obituary

Charles R. ‘Chuck’ Nockey March 25, 1938 - May 5, 2017 Hemet - Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle Charles "Chuck" Richard Nockey, 79, peacefully passed away on May 5, 2017. Born in Canonsburg, PA, Chuck was the eldest of three children of Samuel and Anna Nockey. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Electrical Engineering, he loaded up his Triumph convertible and moved to the San Fernando Valley to work at Hughes Aircraft where he ended up leading the team that created the electronics for the Maverick Surface to Air Missile. While living in the Valley, the dashing young engineer with the cute convertible met Valley native and love of his life, Dianne Sue Cain. They married in 1965 and started their family that grew to four with the birth of two daughters. In the 1970s he moved his young family to Santa Barbara to join Hughes subsidiary, Santa Barbara Research. He later used his analytical skills in a new career as a Certified Financial Planner. In 1999 he and Dianne relocated to Northern San Diego to be closer to their grown daughters and grandchildren. Chuck was an active member of Seaside Center for Spiritual Living in Encinitas, where he initiated their Dolphin Legacy Endowment Program and Dianne was ordained as a minister. When Dianne was offered the position of Senior Minister at the Center for Spiritual Living in Hemet, they moved there in 2011. He continued to serve as a Master Mason at the Masonic Lodge in Hemet as he had done previously in Santa Barbara. Chuck is survived by his cherished wife of 52 years, Dianne; brother James Nockey of Canonsburg and sister Carol BonAnno of San Diego; daughters Kristin (Walt) Edwards of Solana Beach and Dina (Jim) Johnson of La Canada; grandchildren Austin and Alexis Edwards and Haley and Hannah Johnson; and nieces and nephews Christopher Parker, Julie Millet, Paul BonAnno and Stacey Robe. Family and friends will hold a celebration of life in June.
