Chris Gaare Obituary

Chris Gaare, 56 CARLSBAD - Chris (Brown) Gaare. With sadness in our hearts and so many wonderful memories, we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. After 3 1/2 courageous years, she lost her battle with cancer. She was born in Los Angeles on September 20, 1951 to Arthur and Alice Brown, and moved to Carlsbad as a toddler where she was raised and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1969. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Jon; son, Curtis; daughter Heidi; father and mother, Arthur and Alice Brown; brother, Michael; and sister Susie Brown/Gose. Chris and her husband Jon had a wholesale nursery business in Northern California and in 1987 returned to Carlsbad and became the office manager for Arthur Brown Plumbing Co. until her passing. She was at home surrounded by her loving family when she peacefully slipped from us. A Celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Magee Park Heritage Hall on the corner of Carlsbad Blvd and Beach Street in Carlsbad. I am so very sorry to hear this. Chris was my childhood friend from kindergarten through 8th grade when my family moved to San Francisco. I was awkward and prickly and she was always kind. While I have no illusions that I was her best friend, she was mine. Our dads would go lobster fishing in Baja together and we would run through the kitchen to grab legs to chew on in her room. Endless tidepool adventures and sandstone caves we weren't supposed to go in. I wish love and healing to all who loved her.

I am so sorry to hear about Chris...I worked for awhile for Chris and Jon in the nursery in northern California and loved it. She was a good friend and I missed them when they moved back to Carlsbad. Please give my love and prayers to the family. Thinking of all of them....Sharyl

I loved Chris so much-she was a truly great friend to me. She always took the time to listen and offer suggestions when I was struggling with something in my life. She helped me through some tough situations. I will never forget her. My thoughts & prayers are with all her family.

My sincerest condolence to each of you. Chris was such a warrior and inspiration to all of us in her fight with breast cancer. I admire her willingness to put up with so much in her efforts to combat this disease. What a trouper she has been these last several years in her efforts to conquer cancer. We have all learned so much from Chris.

I can't tell you how sorry I am for you Jon and Curtis and Heidi. Chris was such a wonderful woman, she always made me laugh even when going through her treatments. She was so proud of Curtis and his career he had chosen. Oh and how happy she was to have you living back with the family.Heidi, how proud she was of you also. Winning All State last year she was Trilled to be able to go and see your concert, and all your other accomplishments. Jon she always told me how you took care of her when she needed to be taken care of. She will be missed. Our Prayers are with you and your family.
