My Uncle David was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. I am one of his nieces and I treasure the many memories of the time spent with my Aunt Mary and Uncle Dave and my wonderful cousins. We especially enjoyed our time at their family´s cabin near Julian, fishing for bluegill and enjoying fresh pressed cider from apples grown in the orchard. It was safe and very comfortable in the cabin by the fire. The last time we visited the cabin in the evening, a cougar screamed in the tree line less than a city block away which was very exhilarating!
David hosted my engagement celebration at Lear´s Greenhouse in San Diego and 43 years later I realize that he and Mary set an great example for our marriage. One of the most memorable things that day was the first time I ever tasted Caviar.
He also was an adventurous traveler and that had an influence that carries on now to the next generation. I will never forget the exciting toys and stories of adventure that he brought back from his trip with Mary to Japan in the `60s.
Perhaps most important for our family is that our Uncle David was a wise and fair steward of his nieces´ interests as executor for our father´s estate. It couldn´t have been easy, and the outcome was more than we could have hoped for.
He was always the father we looked up to after our own father was gone. He will be dearly missed.
All my Love, Sharon R. Fitz
