DONALD F. PERKINS

PERKINS, DONALD F. Nov. 27, 1920 to July 30, 2010 Donald F. Perkins, 89, passed away of natural causes at Fredericka Manor in Chula Vista, CA. Mr. Perkins served as the Deputy City Assessor in Midland, Michigan, from 1953 until his retirement in 1980. He also served on the County Board of Supervisors, performed private real estate appraisals, and consulted for Chemical Bank in Midland. He was born and raised in Ipswich, Massachusetts. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in India. After his discharge, he married Mary Jane Daniel on April 20, 1946. They lived in Massachusetts until relocating to Michigan in 1953. After retirement, they moved to San Diego to be close to their daughter and family. Mr. Perkins was active in the First United Methodist Church serving as an usher throughout his life. His volunteer activities included Salvation Army, Big Brothers, and various other civic organizations. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and VFW. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane, to whom he was married 64 years, daughter Teresa and her husband Christopher Poulos, and granddaughter Lisa and her husband Hugo Godinez, whose wedding he attended six days prior to his death. Two nieces in Massachusetts also survive. Contributions may be sent in his memory to the First United Methodist Church, 2111 Camino del Rio South, San Diego, California 92108, where a memorial service was held.
