Like so many, I became a fan of Doug's radio broadcast, first on KSPA, "The SPA," as Doug called it, and later on KKSM. I loved the banter between him and his friends, Chuck Strutton, Al Diehl, Chaplain Jack Kirk, and others. Sadly, that time has passed along with Doug, but there are a million memories in those radio signals as they head on into infinite space; perhaps one day it'll be heard in another world. God Speed, Doug Best...

I always looked forward to listening to Doug's big band music Saturday mornings, but I mainly looked forward to listening to him. RIP Mr. Best!

I had some great times with Doug when I use to bring some of my swing records to his "Doug Best Swings" show on KOWN during the 70s & 80s in the Escondido Vineyard. I remember he asked me to sit in for him when he was running for Mayor. I agreed and told him as long as I don't have to ad lib some of commercials like he did.
All the very best, Doug.

Doug was always interesting, whether giving a scoop on backroom politics or telling the backstory on various musical legends. I'll always think of him sitting in his front booth at the Fireside Inn. I hope you've got a great seat for the heavenly big-band concerts.
