Eleanor Greiner, 94 RANCHO BERNARDO ---- Eleanor Stewart Greiner, 94, died of Alzheimer's disease Wednesday, July 4, 2007. Born Feb. 2, 1913, in Chicago, she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 32 years. She attended Northwestern University. She worked as a print and dress model until winning an MGM talent contest and trip to Hollywood. She was a film actress, and appeared in over 20 Westerns. During World War II she was a Gray Lady volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles. She was active in the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church and was a literacy volunteer. She was a member of the Press Club of North San Diego County and president of the Rancho Bernardo-Poway Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Club, publicity chairman for the RB Symphony group and Interfaith Community Services. She was author of "A Fair Vision," a book about the pilgrims. Mrs. Greiner is survived by her husband of 16 years, Maurice Greiner of Rancho Bernardo; daughter Karen Kritzer of San Diego; son-in-law Gregory, step-daughter Jo Greiner, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service is at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bruce Humphrey officiating.
