ELSA KUNIN Obituary

KUNIN, ELSA "BUNNY" Elsa "Bunny" Kunin, age 78, of San Marcos, California, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on September 17, 2009, after ten months of battling leiomyosarcoma (cancer). We will all miss Bunny who was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and wonderful friend. Bunny Gotthelf grew up in New Rochelle, NY; graduated from Syracuse University; married Everett Kunin in 1952, and started their family in Worcester, MA. They moved to New Rochelle, and then to Woodland Hills, CA in 1961. They later lived in San Antonio, Indio, Palm Springs, and San Diego. Preceded in death by her parents Sol and Stella Gotthelf, and sister Harriet Paul (Gotthelf), she lovingly leaves behind her husband Everett, sons Chuck and Doug, brother Hank Gotthelf, daughters-in-law Hollie and Sharon, grandchildren Noah, Anna, Chelsea, and Elisse, and many nieces and nephews. Bunny's home and heart were open to people from all walks of life and lands; her warm, gracious, and knowing ways endeared her to all. Dedicated to community service, she spent many years helping the less fortunate via her work in several charities including Jewish Family Services, Martha's Kitchen, Father Joe Carroll, and Lutheran Family Services. Bunny had a wonderful life, and shared her love and wisdom freely. She enjoyed helping people pursue better lives and she occupies a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. We love her and she will never be forgotten. Memorial service to be October 16th, at 2:30 p.m. at Seacrest Village. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Seacrest Village in Encinitas or Jewish Family Services.
