Gordon Rolls Obituary

Rolls, Gordon Eugene 10/28/1935 ~ 05/31/2013 CARLSBAD -- Gordon, 77, passed away at home with his wife, Debbie, and his beloved dog, Matilda by his side. He was born in Scranton, Pa. Gordon graduated from Gettysburg College, and while he was at Gettysburg, his mother also attended, receiving her school Nursing degree. He was very proud of her, plus he celebrated her fabulous 100th birthday party. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1960 and was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., and was later deployed to Hawaii. Gordon was active in many organizations and volunteer work. He was employed at Travelers Insurance Company for over 40 years. His various duty assignments were in Philadelphia, Pa., Hartford, Conn., Los Angeles, Encino, and University City, Calif., and Salt Lake City, Utah. While residing in Hartford, Conn., he became an avid up-game hunter and sport fisherman. He was a golfer, sailor, and later in retirement, became a golf Marshall at various gold courses. He was also famous for writing poems when employees left or retired from Travelers Ins. Co. Gordon is survived by his wife, Debbie; and three beautiful children, Mark (Lizette), Denise, and Donna (Bill); and four wonderful, loving grandchildren, Britney, Emily, Amanda, and Erin. In accordance with his wishes, no memorial services will be held. His ashes will be spread at his favorite vista. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Best Friends Animal Shelter in Kanab, Utah. Debbie would like to thank Elizabeth Hospice, especially his nurse, Paul Bos, and his aide, Jon Brandt for all their care, love and support.

Bob Endriss

September 9, 2013

My name is Bob Endriss. I live in Lansing, Michigan. Iknew Gordie in our home town of Norwood, PA. Our family knew his father and mother through church and Boy Scouts and his father was my scoutmaster and later, Gordie's. After four years in the Air Force I went to Gettysburg College and after Gordie graduated from high school I recruited him to go to G-Burg and join Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. I was Gordie's "big brother" when he was a pledge. I learned of his death from The G-Burg Alumni magazine I received today. I am saddened to learn of his death. We were friends. My best to his family.

Gordy will be missed. He was a good man. I am glad to have the table he made for Aunt Peppy. I remember him telling me all about it and how he made it. I will alway remember him and Aunt Peggy through the table and the loving people they were. Prayers to the family.
