HARRIET STEVENSON Obituary
STEVENSON, HARRIET LOUISE September 8, 1926 to July 26, 2010 Harriet was born to Axel Walfred Erickson and Harriet Marie Smith Erickson in Minneapolis, MN. She was baptized into the Baptist church and attended K-12 public schools in Minneapolis. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1944. She graduated from Macalester College in 1948 with B.A. degrees in business and Spanish. On June 29, 1949, Harriet married Donald H. Stevenson in Minneapolis. The couple moved to San Diego, CA, the summer of 1951. Harriet was a homemaker and mother from then on. They had three children. Harriet and Don continued to live in San Diego until 1998 when they moved to Camarillo, CA, to be closer to their grown children and grandchildren. She loved baseball and was an ardent baseball fan even as a youngster. As a young girl, she took the streetcar with school friends, a part of the "Knot Hole Gang", to watch the Minneapolis Millers play baseball at Nicollet Field. Harriet became a great San Diego Padres supporter and also loved watching the Chicago "Cubbies" on the television. She and Don traveled to many places including a six-week trip to Mexico in 1966, living in England from August, 1968 to August 1969, visits to New Zealand, Australia, Figi, Hawaii, Canada and Ireland and many European countries. She spent many summers at Diamond Lake, Oregon fishing for rainbow trout and relaxing with her family. Harriet deeply loved her Christian faith and she made sure her children were raised in the faith. While attending Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in San Diego from 1955 to 1998, she sang in the choir and was an active member until they moved to Camarillo. She then joined Mount Cross Lutheran Church with Don. Harriet was proud of her 60 year membership as a P.E.O. She had many health challenges and bravely endured them. She came to love her Camarillo home because of the closeness it provided to her children and grandchildren. We love and miss you Harriet, Harriet Louise, Honey, Mom, Momma, Grandma, Nana, Oma, Aunt Harriet, Hattie Lou.
