Jack Radican Obituary

Jack Edwin Radican, born January 19th, 1925 in Antlers, Oklahoma and passed away on October 15th, 2022 in his adopted home of San Diego, CA. He was a loving and thoughtful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. As a teen, Jack saw much of the Southwest through high school band trips. Still in his teens, he chose to serve his country as an Army Air Corp radio operator during WWII. He was part of an air crew making dangerous, yet necessary, supply runs over the English Channel in support of the allied forces immediately after D-Day.
After the war, Jack started his new life as a student at San Diego State University. It was there that Jack met the love of his life, Marian Nicholson Radican. Marian and Jack married and formed a family. They were both educators, Marian an elementary schoolteacher and Jack a principal who is still fondly remembered by so many of his former students. Jack remembered every student's name at his school.
Jack and Marian showed the world to their children through summer camping, cross-country road trips and even foreign travel. Jack's children, grandchildren, and all those that were lucky enough to meet him are grateful for his laughter, his generosity and his endless supply of songs. Marian and Jack were married for over 60 years and loved each other even longer. One of Jack's proudest achievements was his end-of-life care for his darling Marian. He cared for her just as she had always cared for him. Jack is survived by his children, Rob, Julie, and Christie and his grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, Jacqui and Leah and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend, Topper the Cat.

Jack was my principal when I started teaching at Kit Carson, and he was my principal at Foster when I retired. He was an enthusiastic educator....involved with students and families, and always supportive of his staff. He was basically what every administrator should be. Additionally, he threw legendary parties !
Condolences to his loved ones.
