I will always remember Jim as my good friend and neighbor. Although I am infrequently home, he was always a warm welcome when I returned offering long chats to bring me up to date. Never heard a mean word from this gentleman.
So sad he won't be there when I return this month.

I knew Jim as a wonderful, inspiring teacher at both Casita and Lake Elementary schools. One of my children was in his class, and I worked with him on several school projects. He was well loved by all, and was a kind, funny, and delightful man.

Jim was a great friend and colleague of mine. He and I had so many adventures and teaching moments in my 10 years with him at Casita Elementary School. So many fun experiences from his cabin at Palomar Mountain to our visits on Fridays with the Hlatkeys for a cold one. Some great rides in the Cobra to his Costco Hawaiian shirt collection. Shaving his head to support his students chemo treatment gave Jim the notoriety as a warm loving teacher as well as great intellectual instructor. I will miss him. We didn´t see each other as much recently, but whenever talking about great teachers, Jim, always came in the conversation. Thanks Jim for the good times and the fond memories. Paul Kinder
